STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN

The First Nations Culture is at least 65000 years old and still continues in Australia today. It is so important for us to see that the land has provided the many generations with everything they have ever needed in order to live a healthy life. Majority of the food eaten by our First Nations people came from plants. It was up to women to collect and gather these foods including roots, seeds, greens and fruits. Different plants were eaten or used as medicines throughout the country. Depending on location and climate it varied for different parts of Australia. The design of the collection is inspired by our land's flora and the women who were the gatherers and who helped to heal through the use of plants. The flowering gum has been used by Aboriginal people for many years to treat a variety of illnesses as it is known to have healing properties like many native plants around the country.
